Chapter 6

Noah drove through the parking lot at Parker’s hospital. He signaled once more, only to slam on his brakes at the last second, again. “Dammit! Another compact car. There’s nowhere to park.”

“Just drop me off at the door. I’ll go up to HR and quit then to my locker to grab my stuff.”

Noah’s lip slipped outward then began trembling. He had taken to doing that every time Parker mentioned they do separate things since arriving in Texas. He didn’t want Parker to escape from his sight for even a moment. In Kansas, Noah was fine if they had to do things separately, but here in Texas, he was worried Parker might make a break for it. Parker had left once before, and Noah was feeling insecure. The exaggerated lip was less embarrassing than admitting he was worried about Parker leaving.

“Oh, stop with the lip already.” Parker pushed it back toward Noah’s face. “I’m sure a spot will open up then you can meet me at the lockers. Go into the ER and turn left after the triage nurse station. Tell whoever’s there that you are meeting Parker in the back, and they will open the doors. Go through the double doors and ask at the main nurses’ station for directions to the locker room, okay?”

“Okay.” Noah harrumphed but agreed. He was loathe to let Parker from his sight for long. He had only just gotten Parker back. The changes to their relationship were still so new, and Noah worried he would screw up. Slowly, Noah drove Parker to the entrance. Before Parker hopped from Noah’s truck, Noah spanned the distance and pulled Parker to him. He brushed his fingers over the place where he had bit Parker’s neck to claim him. As he hoped, Parker whimpered and slumped toward him. Noah kissed around Parker’s ear, not caring they were in plain view of the hospital or that his huge truck was stopping traffic.

“I love you, Parker Shea.”

“Okay,” Parker’s thready whisper flitted across Noah’s skin. He leaned back to enjoy his view of Parker’s love induced stupor. Eyes closed, Parker reached behind himself for the door then felt around for the handle.

Noah smirked since Parker couldn’t see it anyway. He was still trying to open his eyes.

“Let me.” Noah reached passed him and opened the door. He dragged his knuckles down Parker’s cheek again. “You gonna make it?”

Parker shook his head and opened his eyes. “Yeah, I’m good.” He slid from the truck, but that was as far as he moved. “I’m good.”

Noah wanted to scream and shout and tell everyone he did that. He made Parker stupid in love. No one else could do that. Just him.

“Okay, I’ll be quick.” Parker closed the door and took two steps before looking back. He smiled, and Noah reveled in the blush that crept up his face. Noah sighed and sunk lower into his seat. “Damn, I love that man.”

Noah turned back into the parking lot and headed for the farthest end. He figured his best shot was to go where no one wanted to park.
